The project began after the pandemic revealed how many students were unable to participate fully in art activities and programs simply because they did not have access to basic materials. Teachers saw students without paper and pencils, let alone crayons, paints, brushes, and other art supplies.
Our first Recycled Art Supplies Drive collected more than a thousand dollars’ worth of donated materials, which were distributed to schools throughout San Bernardino County.
Since then, Recycled Art Supplies has continued to grow. Over the past several years, we have distributed thousands of dollars’ worth of donated art and craft supplies to students, educators, schools, and programs throughout the Inland Empire, helping give students the materials they need to create, explore ideas, and develop confidence in their own creativity.
Our mission is to expand access to visual arts by giving usable art materials a second life and placing them into the hands of people who can put them to creative use. By reducing barriers to artmaking, Recycled Art Supplies seeks to empower students and communities to create, experiment, and imagine what is possible.
